Colonoscopy

Your doctor inserts a small, lighted tube through the colon through the anus and rectum upwards. You get a sedative and pain reliever prior to the operation to make you more relaxed. The tube with colonoscopy has a tiny camera on it. It reveals photos of your doctor's inside of your colon as the tube passes in. Also, the doctor can take a small sample of tissue through the tube for later analysis. Having the sort of sample is part of a biopsy examination.
